PASSED, Illuminant​/​Glory

Il primo dei due pezzi di Illuminant/Glory, esordio sulla breve distanza per Passed, ricorda “Ota Benga” dei Mamuthones, quella della prima incarnazione del progetto, col solo Gastaldello a suonare: percussioni tribali, ricerca di uno uno stato di trance, volontà di regredire (?) a una fase pre-razionale. Se Ciarletta non l’avesse chiamata “Italian Occult Psychedelia”, probabilmente qualcun altro avrebbe parlato di primitivismo, basta pensare anche a cos’ha fatto Donato Epiro come solista e come Cannibal Movie insieme a Gaspare Sammartano. Nulla da dire sul modo in cui Passed ha reso tutto questo: il percorso di “Illuminant” è molto lineare, ma ogni strato (vocale, noise) aggiunto man mano che i minuti passano sembra sempre quello che ci voleva in quel momento. Dopo la follia arriva per contrasto l’episodio ambient rarefatto e celeste, sfregiato ad arte per un momento col grido “We stand upright/Our head above the heavens/Our feet below the hells”. Un bel biglietto da visita.
